DRONE INSPECTIONS NOW AVAILABLE

Radon is a gas that can cause serious health issues. It cannot be seen, tasted or smelled. Exposure to this radioactive gas has been proven to cause lung cancer. Before you purchase a home, it is important to have a radon inspection performed. Radon is a Natural Occurring Substance Radon is found in homes throughout the country -- and the Minneapolis - St. Paul area is no exception. As the uranium in the water, soil and rock breaks down, radon is released into the air. This invisible gas finds its way into your home through cracks and other breaches of your foundation. The age of the home has no bearing on whether or not it has a radon problem. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), about one in every 15 homes has a radon level that is elevated. Protect Yourself and Your Family With a Radon Inspection Before you purchase a home, you should have it tested for radon. Radon testing is the only method of discovering if your home has a problem with this gas. If you currently live in a home and it has less than three levels, the EPA recommends that you test it for radon. Radon testing results can differ widely among homes in the same area and neighborhood. In fact, your next door neighbor could have a radon reading that is within normal levels while your home might have too much of the gas. Choose a Qualified Real Estate Inspector Before you sign that final piece of paper that seals the deal for your home purchase, you should have your home inspected by a qualified real estate inspector. In addition to searching for structural issues and other problems, your home inspector can perform radon testing. While test results that indicate high levels of this poisonous gas are a cause for concern, there are ways to address it. These center on reducing the levels of gas in a safe and effective manner. Buyer Beware of Radon In many cases, testing for radon is the responsibility of the seller. As an informed buyer, however, you can also insist that you want to use your own inspector as well. If an elevated level is found, provisions to address it can be written as a clause in your contract. Inspections Plus knows how important your family is to you so they offer top-quality radon testing that allows you to rest better at night.
